Can my existing shower be turned into a steam shower?
Often, yes. A steam shower needs a fully enclosed, vapor-tight space with a door and ceiling, a sloped ceiling so condensation runs off instead of dripping, a steam generator installed nearby, and proper drainage. We’ll look at your shower and tell you what it would take. We also convert saunas and build steam rooms in new construction.
What do I need for a steam room at home?
A steam generator, a fully sealed enclosure with a vapor barrier, a sloped ceiling, a drain, a steam head and controls, plus a water supply and an electrical circuit for the generator. We design the plumbing and installation details, including enclosure, drainage and humidity control, and can add aromatherapy injectors.
Does a steam generator need maintenance?
Yes. Minerals in hard water build up inside steam generators, so they need regular draining and descaling, and a yearly check of the valves, heating elements and controls keeps them reliable. We repair, maintain and upgrade residential and commercial steam generators.
