How does a cooling tower work?
Water is pumped to the top of the tower and trickles down through fill while a large fan pulls air through it, cooling the water by evaporation. The cooled water returns to the basin and the HVAC system, and a float valve tops up the water that evaporates.
Why does a cooling tower need water treatment?
Evaporating water leaves minerals behind on the tower, piping and fill, and over time that buildup cuts efficiency. Regular maintenance and chemical treatment keep the tower working well and extend its life.
