Five generations

Our story

Before plumbing and heating, the Drake family came to Boise in the mid-1800s and was part of homesteading the Treasure Valley and Idaho City. Generation after generation, the Drakes have served the valley ever since.

Meet the owners

Rebecca Drake

CFO and owner · HR

Rebecca manages the business’s day-to-day operations, finances and human resources, bringing years of experience in finance, business, sales and marketing; she studied business and marketing. She enjoys pinball, camping, RZR riding and spending time with her family. Together, Nick and Rebecca are building the business so it can keep serving the Treasure Valley for decades to come.
Nick Drake

CEO and owner · Plumbing commercial estimator · New business development

Nick learned the trade from his father, Rick, and his grandfather, Dick, and started working for his dad at age ten, washing trucks and cleaning the shop. After graduating from Borah High School he went to plumbing school and learned the plumbing, heating and air conditioning business from the ground up. He earned his Journeyman Plumbing license in 2001, his Idaho Plumbing Contractor license in 2005, a North Dakota contractor’s license in 2011 and a Washington contractor’s license in 2019. Nick became CEO and owner in May 2017 and still oversees day-to-day operations as the plumbing and wet-side construction estimator and project manager.

We employ certified journeymen and apprentices and hand-select every employee for skill, dependability, professionalism and, most importantly, integrity.

Bob Buckley

HVAC Commercial Estimator

Bob has worked in the HVAC industry for 45 years. After completing his apprenticeship in 1986, he became a Master Architectural Sheet Metal Worker, and over the years has worked in the shop and the field in both service and construction. He plans to finish his career at Drake Mechanical.
Fred Roberts

HVAC Commercial Estimator and Project Manager

Fred has been in the dry-side HVAC business for 34 years. He started as a shop hand as a teenager, worked through a four-year apprenticeship to become a sheet metal journeyman, then a field foreman and shop foreman, and spent 12 years as a sheet metal apprentice instructor. As an estimator and project manager he has run public and private HVAC projects up to $2 million, and at Drake he focuses on sheet metal and dry-side HVAC projects.
