When you need backflow service
A backflow preventer stops water from your irrigation system, boiler or other equipment from being pulled back into the clean water supply. Most devices need a yearly test by a certified tester, and a failed test, a leak or low pressure means it needs repair.
How a Drake backflow test works
Our certified testers check that each valve in your device opens and closes as it should, then report the results. If it fails, we repair worn check valves, springs and seals and retest. We service double check, pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) and reduced pressure (RP) devices, for homes and commercial properties.
Freeze protection for irrigation backflow preventers
Irrigation backflow preventers sit above ground, so a hard freeze can crack them if they aren’t drained before winter. If yours froze, we’ll repair or replace it before the irrigation season starts.

Josh and his crew (Oscar and Levi) came out to install my new water heater and repipe my entire home. It was 3 days and they did a fantastic job! I will add that my drywall guy came to make some repairs and he also said they did a fantastic job! Thank you again to the entire team!

We were having low water pressure from our kitchen faucet and tried changing the cartridge and the wand and a few other things with no success. Thomas Conley came out and fixed problem within an hour. Now our water pressure is back to normal and we are extremely happy. Thomas is very professional and knowledgeable. Very happy with Drake Mechanical

Common questions
Have a question that isn’t here? Call us any time at (208) 362-6200.
What does a backflow preventer do?
It stops water from flowing backward out of your irrigation system, boiler or other equipment into the clean drinking water supply. Without one, fertilizer, chemicals or stagnant water could be pulled back into the water you and your neighbors drink.
How often does a backflow preventer need testing?
Most backflow preventers, including the ones on lawn irrigation systems, need to be tested once a year by a certified tester, and the results reported to your water provider. We test, repair and replace double check, pressure vacuum breaker (PVB) and reduced pressure (RP) devices.
What happens if my backflow test fails?
Usually a worn check valve, spring or seal needs repair, then a retest. If the device is old or damaged beyond repair, we’ll replace it. Either way, you get a passing test to send to your water provider.
