When you need a propane line
Homes, shops and cabins outside natural gas service often run on propane for heat, hot water and cooking. Every new appliance needs a properly sized line from the tank, and older lines can corrode, get damaged or leak.
If you smell gas, leave the building first and call 911 and your propane supplier from outside.
How a Drake propane line job works
We calculate the right pipe size for every appliance on the line, install the piping to code, add a shut-off at each appliance, and pressure test the finished line to make sure it’s tight. We also repair leaking or damaged lines and maintain existing systems.
Propane for homes, shops and businesses
We run propane lines for ranges, dryers, fireplaces, tankless water heaters, furnaces, garage and shop heaters, outdoor grills and fire pits, and commercial equipment. If natural gas is coming to your area, see gas line installation and conversion.

Josh and his crew (Oscar and Levi) came out to install my new water heater and repipe my entire home. It was 3 days and they did a fantastic job! I will add that my drywall guy came to make some repairs and he also said they did a fantastic job! Thank you again to the entire team!

We were having low water pressure from our kitchen faucet and tried changing the cartridge and the wand and a few other things with no success. Thomas Conley came out and fixed problem within an hour. Now our water pressure is back to normal and we are extremely happy. Thomas is very professional and knowledgeable. Very happy with Drake Mechanical

Common questions
Have a question that isn’t here? Call us any time at (208) 362-6200.
Is propane piping different from natural gas piping?
The pipe materials are similar, but propane runs at a different pressure and carries more energy per cubic foot, so the sizing and regulators are different. Appliances also need to be set up for the fuel they use. We size and install propane lines for your appliances and pressure test every line.
Can you add a gas line for a new range or dryer?
Yes. We extend your existing gas piping to a new range, dryer, fireplace, water heater or furnace, sized for the added load, with a shut-off valve at the appliance, and test for leaks before we leave.
Can you run a gas line to my fire pit or grill?
Yes. We run natural gas and propane lines to outdoor fire pits, fire tables, built-in grills, patio heaters and outdoor kitchens, with a shut-off valve at each one, and pressure test the line before it goes into use.
What should I do if I smell gas or my carbon monoxide alarm goes off?
Get everyone out of the house right away, leave doors open behind you, and don’t switch lights or appliances on or off. From outside, call 911 and your gas company. Once it’s safe, call us and we’ll find and fix the cause.
