Fix hard water for good
Hard water is common across the Treasure Valley. The minerals in it leave white spots on faucets, shower glass and dishes, fade laundry, dry out skin and hair, and build up as scale inside water heaters, tankless units, dishwashers and pipes, which costs you efficiency and shortens their lives.
We start with a water test, then recommend the system that fits your water and your household: a traditional salt-based softener such as NuGen or Sterling, a salt-free conditioner, a whole house filter or reverse osmosis system, or a combination. We also repair and service existing softeners of all makes.
Salt-free conditioners. Systems like NUVO use a citric-based process instead of salt to keep hardness minerals from sticking to pipes, fixtures and water heaters. They hang on the wall, use no water to regenerate, and need only a periodic cartridge change. We install NUVO’s compact Studio and larger Manor models.
Keep it working. The Drake Duck Club Plumbing and Whole House plans include a yearly water softener back flush and a water hardness check. Financing is available for residential customers.

Josh and his crew (Oscar and Levi) came out to install my new water heater and repipe my entire home. It was 3 days and they did a fantastic job! I will add that my drywall guy came to make some repairs and he also said they did a fantastic job! Thank you again to the entire team!

We were having low water pressure from our kitchen faucet and tried changing the cartridge and the wand and a few other things with no success. Thomas Conley came out and fixed problem within an hour. Now our water pressure is back to normal and we are extremely happy. Thomas is very professional and knowledgeable. Very happy with Drake Mechanical

Common questions
Have a question that isn’t here? Call us any time at (208) 362-6200.
Does the Treasure Valley have hard water?
Much of it does. Hard water carries dissolved minerals, mostly calcium and magnesium, that leave white spots on fixtures and dishes, build up as scale inside water heaters and pipes, and make soap harder to rinse. Hardness varies from home to home, especially on wells, so we test your water before recommending a system.
What’s the difference between a water softener and a water filter?
A water softener removes the hardness minerals that cause scale and spots. A filter removes other things, such as sediment, chlorine, iron or, with reverse osmosis, a wide range of dissolved contaminants. Many homes use both: a softener for the whole house and a reverse osmosis filter for drinking water.
Do salt-free water softeners work?
Salt-free systems, more accurately called conditioners, change hardness minerals so they don’t stick to pipes, fixtures and water heaters, instead of removing them. They need no salt, use no water to regenerate and take up little space. A traditional salt-based softener removes the minerals, which gives you the slick feel of soft water and the fewest spots. We’ll help you choose.
Will a water softener help my water heater?
Yes. Scale from hard water collects in the bottom of tank water heaters and on the heat exchanger of tankless ones, making them less efficient and shortening their life. Softened water stops that buildup, and we set up softeners to protect both tank and tankless water heaters.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Residential customers can finance new equipment and larger repairs through Synchrony Bank, subject to credit approval. See our financing options for current plans.
