Is it time to replace your furnace?
A furnace rarely needs replacing overnight. Usually there’s a pattern: a repair every winter, rooms that never quite warm up, bills that creep higher each year. If that sounds familiar, it’s worth comparing the cost of another repair with the cost of a new system.
Your technician will give you an honest answer. If a repair makes more sense, we’ll say so.
How a Drake furnace replacement works
As a Comfortmaker Elite dealer, we install efficient, dependable equipment and service all major brands.
A new furnace is a big purchase, so we take the time to get it right. We look at your home, your ductwork, venting and gas or electric supply, and how the house heats today, then size the new furnace to your home rather than just matching the old one.
You’ll see your options side by side with a clear price for each, from a dependable single-stage furnace to quieter, more efficient two-stage and variable-speed systems. The person explaining them is a technician, not a salesperson.
Which kind of furnace is right for your home?
- Single-stage furnaces run at full power whenever they’re on. They’re simple, dependable and the most affordable to install.
- Two-stage furnaces run on a lower setting most of the time and switch to full power on the coldest days, so heat is steadier and quieter.
- Variable-speed and modulating furnaces adjust in small steps to match what your home needs. They give the most even temperatures, the quietest operation and the best efficiency, and their ECM blower motors use less electricity.
- Electric furnaces suit homes without natural gas. They’re quiet and simple, and we can pair them with central air or a heat pump.
Not sure? That’s what the visit is for. We’ll recommend what fits your home and budget, and tell you plainly when the extra features aren’t worth it for you.
Replacing a wall, floor or oil furnace? We replace older wall furnaces, floor furnaces and oil-fired furnaces too, either with a modern unit of the same kind or by switching to a gas or electric furnace or a heat pump when that makes more sense for your home.
Mobile and manufactured home furnaces
Manufactured homes need furnaces built and approved for them, and the installation has its own requirements. We install and repair gas and electric mobile home furnaces, including Coleman and Intertherm units, and can add matching air conditioning.

5 out of 5 stars
Needed a boiler serviced and had Drake Mechanical out before as I knew they serviced residential boilers. … Bryce the boiler tech was knowledgeable, friendly and professional and completed the service quickly and efficiently. They took the time to walk through everything they serviced and also adjusted the price from the original quote because some items were not required … Would highly recommend Drake for plumbing and mechanical service.

5 out of 5 stars
We recently hired Drake Mechanical to inspect and repair the radiant heat system in our shop. From the beginning, they were prompt and professional. They arrived when they said they would and took the time to explain what they were doing and why. Kevin and his assistant worked efficiently and clearly knew what they were doing. … It’s rare to find a company that combines technical skill with excellent customer service. We’d highly recommend.

Common questions
Have a question that isn’t here? Call us any time at (208) 362-6200.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
Most furnaces last somewhere around 15 to 20 years. If yours is younger than that and the repair is reasonable, repairing it usually makes sense. If it’s older, needs repairs every winter, or the repair costs a large share of a new system, replacing it may save you money. Your technician will lay out both options honestly. There’s no separate sales team. New heating equipment comes with our One-Year Buy-Back Guarantee, and financing is available.
What size furnace do I need?
It depends on your home, not just on the size of the old furnace. We look at the square footage, insulation, windows, ductwork and how the house actually heats today. An oversized furnace short-cycles and wears out sooner; an undersized one runs nonstop on the coldest days.
Do you install furnaces in mobile and manufactured homes?
Yes. Manufactured homes need furnaces built and approved for them, and we install and service both gas and electric models, including Coleman and Intertherm units.
What is the One-Year Buy-Back Guarantee?
If you’re not 100% satisfied with your new heating or cooling equipment in the first year, we’ll buy it back. Ask your technician for the details when you choose your new system.
Do you offer financing?
Yes. Residential customers can finance new equipment and larger repairs through Synchrony Bank, subject to credit approval. See our financing options for current plans.
